Unity is the key

The migratory crisis affecting Europe raises countless questions - and often arouses conflicting emotions - for the general public. Fueled by hardline political rhetoric, feelings of fear, anger and rejection intensify, blurring reality. Yet, it’s by going to meet these men, women, and children who have left everything in order to survive that we can truly forge our convictions. Let’s give them a voice.

02

Let them in to give them a way out!

It’s an appeal to our humanity that Médecins du Monde has made, right in the heart of Paris. The message “Open the doors” took on the form of an audience-responsive installation open to everyone.

21 closed doors were exhibited on the Place de la République. In opening them, passersby discovered the portraits and testimonials of 21 migrants. Thanks to the accuracy and neutrality of photographer Samuel Legassy, these exiles of all kinds, ages, conditions and cultures revealed themselves and, in doing so, broke down our barriers and prejudices. The threshold was crossed.
